Been feeling a lot better lately. If you're going through something challenging, know that it will get better. Get support so that you can keep moving forward. . One of the things that really helps me in the ups and downs is the idea of "nourishment as self care," a phrase by @evelyntribole and @elyseresch. . Having a list of balanced meals and snacks that don't require much from me (energy and prep time), plus eating every 4-6 hours (loose schedule due to biological needs, when my hunger signals are "offline") has made a world of difference. . Before, during days when I wasn't feeling good emotionally, I used to skip meals, then get suddenly hungry (and have hangry mood swings which made the emotions worse), and then I'd eat a bunch of things that by themselves in smaller quantities feel fine, but in large quantities all together make my body feel kind of gross inside. . Now, I'm able to know that I'm doing one kind thing for my body and myself a few times a day, even when I don't feel great. And I don't have to experience further drama and guilt around eating or food choices, or from letting myself get too hungry. It also doesn't feel as overwhelming to think about what I want to eat, or prepare, because that's already all thought of. . I highly recommend the book Intuitive Eating by Elyse Resch and Evelyn Tribole to learn more about nourishment as self care and how you can eat in a relaxed manner that's based on your body. . Imagine if your mind was so focused on the Eiffel Tower that you missed really enjoying all the delicious French food. Or if you had one particular version of success and missed all the things that were happening along the way. . That would be sad, right? . How much richer would life be if we were actually able to also appreciate all the other things that are happening, whether they’re positive or negative or neutral? . We can have goals, like a health goal or to see the Eiffel Tower, but if that’s our *only* focus, even if we reach that goal (and even if we really enjoy it), we’re going to miss all of the other things in between. . If we're not present, we’re always waiting… even though the adventure is *already happening.* . It’s happening whether you’re paying attention or not. If you’re checked out because you’re hoping for something different, then *you’re missing out on your life.* . When we think of an adventure, what comes to mind typically isn’t the destination alone. Typically, “adventure” contains the idea of a journey. The journey *is* the adventure. .
